"HOME IS WHEREVER YOU ARE" is a documentary that follows the 25 member, orchestral folk band "The Apple Miner Colony" on a 6000 mile trek across America. The film is an exploration into the journeys we all dream of taking so that we may find something worth living for.

WILL YOU HELP US MAKE THIS DOCUMENTARY POSSIBLE?

“Home, you are my home, home is wherever you are…”

On May 17th 2009, The Apple Miner Colony will set out on the road. Their journey will take them from the Southwest through the Deep South, up the East Coast and through the Midwest stopping at numerous small music clubs and house shows along the way, each with its own unique feelings and voice stemming from its geography, history and people.

Sharing the true human connections they’ve found in each other is what drives the band. Music is their language
. Sometimes they will touch home, while at others their words will fall on deaf ears.

In many ways, The Apple Miner Colony, the tour, and the HOME IS WHEREVER YOU ARE documentary serve as a metaphor for the journeys we all dream of taking so that we may find something worth living for. Such dreams represent the beauty of youth and the desire to pursue ideals that are all too often lost.

“We are being human, being human beings…and humans
will be what they’ll be…”

In order to make this project possible we will need to raise over $24,000. Of course we realize that many people only have $10 to spare, but if 600 people gave us $10 each, that’s $6000, a quarter of our budget. Here are some examples of how donations could help.

• $5 would pay for a meal for one of our crew members
• $30 would buy a tank of gas
• $50 would pay for a 16GB SDHC Memory Card for our cameras
• $200 would buy a decent microphone
• $900 would pay for insurance.
• $4,000 would pay for 1 AVC-HD Panasonic Camera
• $5,000 or more will earn you a credit as "Associate Producer" of the film.

Any profit seen by this documentary (from distribution or otherwise) will all (100%) be set aside for the creation of a media arts collective designed to give young artists, musicians, and filmmakers the avenues and means to realize their unique and creative visions.

And if you’re too strapped for cash here’s a few other ways that you can help:

Get the Gear!

As you can see equipment is expensive and comprises a large portion of our budget. Please let us know if you own any camera or sound equipment that you’d be willing to loan out for 5 weeks. Our insurance would fully cover any equipment used in the making of this documentary, so you’d be fully protected.

Book a Show!

If you’re living in or you are from any of the tour destinations, we could also use your help. We still need help with booking shows, nailing down places to stay and contacting local papers and radio stations. Click here for a list of cities and tour dates.

Spread the word!

Get involved! If you like the music or the concept behind the documentary, tell your friends, your family or even someone you’ve just met. The more people know about the Apple Miner Colony, the tour and the HOME IS WHEREVER YOU ARE documentary, the better. To learn more about the project, download our full Electronic Press Kit here.
